I was sitting at the counter in a smoky breakfast diner in Greybull, Wyoming having a fairly average cup of coffee when it happened. The waitress walked up to the old tube television and turned up the volume a bit. The small group of farmers stopped their conversation and turned to tv with half interested looks. The Supreme Court was set to announce it’s ruling on the legality of same sex marriage in the US.
It was one of those moments in life where you instantly remember everything about the time and place you’re in. I was struggling to get out of a sleepy fog as the result of a few crazy days of travel. Instantly I found myself transfixed on the tv with deep feelings of hope.
As the ruling was announced on tv all I could think about was Annie and Christi’s wedding from the weekend before. The smiles, the friends and family, the love. Pure love.
Then it hit me like a bolt of lightning.
The people with the biggest hearts are the ones that change the world.
