The best creative concepts often start with no goals in mind. Just a little caffeine and weirdness. This trip to Texas Hill Country was born out of the spontaneous combustion of those two elements. What it became was pure magic.
Four creative souls (termed #bizcuitsquad for reasons still fuzzy) set out for Texas to shoot editorial work at Tres Lunas Resort, Fayettechill, and Brixton but the trip became something bigger than that.
We started off staying three days at Tres Lunas Resort near Mason, Texas. The owners Carol and Craig Conlee treated us like royalty. Each morning we woke to homemade breakfast and friendly conversation. They pointed us in the direction of some amazing Hill Country scenic drives and invited us to a documentary at the restored movie theater in Mason. Carol is on the board that has saved this movie theater’s small town charm while retrofitting it for the 21st century. It’s a gem so make sure to swing by for a flick if you’re in the area.
I’ve always read about the charm of Texas Hill Country but seeing is believing - as a visual artist there’s something about the tones of this place that light up my brain. I hope these images leave a little mystery of the place and set you in motion to get out and experience the area. These images were all shot within an hours drive of Tres Lunas and I still felt like we didn’t see everything on our list.
If you’re headed that way feel free to contact me for some recommendations. If you’ve been following the #bizcuitsquad on Instagram stay tuned tomorrow for the second part of this trip. We got a little wild south of the border. Prepare yourself.
